A Life in the Slow Lane

Slowing down

This blog is entitled a life in the slow lane and Team Basil are slowing down to match.

As I mentioned in my previous post, we quite like Camping Playa Taray and this part of the Spanish coast and we have decided to stay for a couple more nights.

One reason for staying still, other than the lovely warm weather and the huge unspoilt beach, is that I am still working on a photo album for Sarah’s birthday and it is taking longer than I realised. I hope it’s worth it in the end!

Yesterday, after some work on said album, we went for a walk down a pleasantly shaded avenue of trees, about 1.5 miles to the next village. Reception told us that they didn’t think there would be any restaurants open, but they were wrong. There was a nice little family run restaurant, with a €9 Menu Del Dia, catering to the few people, Spanish and foreigners, still present in February.

Sarah and I had lunch, which included some lovely grilled fresh sardines. These are the sort of dishes which are simple, but with the right ingredients, delicious.

Sarah has carried out her usual campsite ritual and done our accumulated washing and we have both sunned ourselves a bit and read. The dogs have loved their frequent excursions to the beach.
