17th & 18th May 2023
We’re busy doin’ nothin’
Workin’ the whole day through
Tryin’ to find lots of things not to do
We’re busy goin’ nowhere
Isn’t it just a crime
We’d like to be unhappy, but
We never do have the time
Bing Crosby could have written this post for me, because the above verse from his song says it all about the last two days!!
We drove a grand total of 4 miles to our new campsite Camping Baia Dei Coralli (36.8155, 14.4671 €21 ACSI) but even in that short distance SatNav sent us the wrong way. He seems to think that every dirt track between the numerous Polytunnels and Plastic Greenhouses, is an actual road. Fair enough, we have seen several proper roads in Italy which are worse than these farm tracks, but still, SatNav should know better.
Camping Baia Dei Coralli is everything our last campsite was not. Friendly staff, beautifully laid out and maintained, and even a bathroom for each pitch! We parked Basil on a prime spot overlooking the long beach at Punta Braccetto.
Sarah’s done the washing, yet again. I had a wander into Punta Braccetto, which is like a ghost town at this time of year. No open restaurants. Sarah found a clifftop walk which petered out fairly quickly.
We’ve both taken Skye down to the beach to play fetch with her new favourite toy, a scraggy bit of rope Sarah found on a beach earlier this trip. Her speed, and ability to catch, attracts a small group of on lookers on most occasions! In the heat she tires much more easily than in the UK, but she just runs in to the sea to cool off and then she’s ready for more fun.
Tomorrow we go to Noto for the flower festival, where we intend to stay two or three nights at a Sosta I’ve found, attached to a Bed and Breakfast, just outside the town.
