We set off from Lake Bled to Croatia today, but so bad was the weather forecast for Croatia that we even discussed high tailing it across Italy back to Southern France. In the end we pressed on through the spectacular Slovenian and Croatian mountains and forests. The forests in this part of the world are vast covering thousands of square miles. Our view to start with was, as expected, obscured by rain, but as we neared the Croatian coast a small amount of sun started to appear.
We chose to try a campsite, Camping Krk, on the island of Krk near the town of Krk. It is another ACSI site at 19 Euros a night, but we paid an extra 5.50 Euros a night for a pitch right by the sea. (45.024577, 14.592104)
The campsite is big and modern, but scores extra points from us by having a dedicated dog beach!! I suspect in the height of summer it would be unbearable, but there are still many empty pitches at the moment.
The sun has continued to shine on us and the dogs have already visited their beach, but neither could be persuaded to go for a swim.
