A Life in the Slow Lane

Team Basil is Off Again

Anyone looking at this blog might think that Team Basil has been sitting on its lardy behind for the last two year. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Our two year old Blue Merle Border Collie has kept us all on our feet for a start.

In between lockdowns we have been away in Basil many times. Sometimes for weekends and in the summers for longer trips. In 2021 we explored the coast of Wales and last year Devon, the New Forest and Lancashire.

This year we are being brave and sallying further afield.

We have booked a Eurotunnel crossing for tomorrow and the general idea is to meander south to find warmer weather. Post Brexit we are limited to a maximum of 90 days, other than that we have few constraints.

Basil at Canterbury, before the rain.

We drove down to our favourite overnight stop at the Park and Ride in Canterbury, intending to spend the day exploring the city, but the British weather has scuppered our plans and we are all hunkered down in Basil’s cosy interior for the foreseeable.

At the moment my intention is to blog more sporadically on this trip, but we will see how the mood takes me. You can follow our stops on the 2023 map on this site.
