A Life in the Slow Lane

A long day in the saddle

Not too much to report today. We set off from Strasbourg for a possible campsite on the Chiemsee, east of Munich. We spent most of the day knocking off 320 miles on German Autobahns of very mixed quality. Most of the day was warm and sunny but we had a few downpours as well.

The last few miles showed hints of what is to come. The Bavarian Alps showed themselves through the mist.

We finally arrived at a campsite called Seehaeusl (47.901888 12.519534) with a very friendly welcome. It is the tightest packed campsite we have ever been on and the owner directed me with amazing precision to our pitch by the lake. It’s an ACSI site at 17 Euros a night off season.

We treated ourselves to a couple of Weissbiers and pizzas at the very good restaurant and then sat looking across the lake at the Alps in the distance as the sun went down.
