A Life in the Slow Lane

And They’re Off

We’ve finally left home.

We spent the morning loading a few last minute items and securing the house for a potential 8 month absence.

Tim poised for the Grand Depart

Melek and Mabel haven’t got a clue what’s going on, but they’re excited

Finally at 1.30 Basil’s engine roared into action and we were off.

To be honest the journey to our first stop at a Caravan Club Certified Location at Arkesden in Essex was a non-event. We stopped for lunch at Peterborough and finally arrived in the picture perfect village of Arkesden at 5pm.

The CL (51.986781, 0.167129) is expensive at £20 per night, but is nicely located on a farm with stables and the fee includes electricity and access to basic toilets and shower.

Basil earns a well deserved rest at our first stop

Jake’s partner Bex drew this excellent cartoon for our departure, I will have to find a way to integrate it into the blog.
